As a result, many files can be added fast and easily, without adding each file separately.Convert several files separately at the same time:To convert multiple files individually and at the same time, you have to choose the option 'Convert files separately' after you have selected the files. As a result, you get a ZIP archive, which contains all the converted PDF files. If you do not choose this option, the files are still converted, but the files are merged and you get only one single PDF file as output.![]() Convert scanned documents to searchable PDF filesScanned files can be converted to searchable PDF files. This feature can be activated by choosing "Searchable PDF" as the output format in the dropdown menu after selecting the file. Then an optical character recognition (only in selected languages) will be applied and contained text in images and scans will be selectable, copyable and also searchable.![]() Create an Image-PDFYou can also choose "Image-PDF" as the output format. Then you get a PDF file, which seems to be like a scanned document that contains only images. Text will not be copyable and also not selectable because the whole content is converted as an image. >> Go to the Online-Tool to convert a file to PDF << |
Conversion from PDF to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and other formatsPDF files can be converted to MS Office files, for example to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and even to RTF (Rich-Text-Format). After the conversion, you can open the files with your Microsoft Office and edit them easily. The maximum file size is 100 MB.Please note that only up to 100 pages can be converted at once. Just select your file and then choose the output format in the dropdown menu near "convert to". You can also select several PDF files at the same time. By default, all files are merged and afterward, they are converted to the selected output format. If you want to convert each file separately, then you have to choose the option 'Convert files separately' (see screenshot in the last section). PDF to image files (.jpg or .png)If you need just image files of your PDF document, for example, if the PDF file contains photos and you would like to save them as normal image files, then just select this output format. After the conversion, you will get a ZIP archive that contains a separate image for each page in the PDF document.Conversion from PDF to: MS Office: Word - doc, Docx OpenDocument: odt, ods, ODPExcel - Xls, xlsx PowerPoint - ppt, pps, pptx Images: jpg, png Text: RTT , txt E-Book: epub, Mobi, azw3 ![]() Insert content as imageBy using the PDF export (to Word or Powerpoint), you can define that the whole content is inserted as an image. That is useful if the file contains complex contents which cannot be converted easily. If the whole content is pasted as an image, you can still insert text layers above the content, e.g. to fill forms in Word or to insert additional text in presentations.![]() Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in imagesIf your PDF files contain scanned documents (i.e. all text is included in images only), you can run an optical character recognition (OCR) in these images. Just choose the language of your document for the OCR option. Please note, that in this case only 20 pages can be converted at once and the correct recognition strongly depends on the image quality.![]() XPS and OXPS files as source selectableXPS and OXPS files can be directly converted to Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Images, without converting them to PDF first.Images files as source selectableScanned image files (JPG, TIFF...) can be directly converted to Word/Excel/Powerpoint (using the OCR option), without converting them to PDF first.Advanced OCRBy using the PDF export with activated OCR, you can now apply the character recognition for the whole content, not only for scans. In some cases, PDF files contain wrong character encodings and therefore it is not possible to copy or search text (even if the text is selectable!). All you would get are symbols or the wrong characters. The standard OCR is only applied for scanned pages, not for already existing text. Therefore you would get all these wrong characters in the converted document too. With the new feature "Advanced OCR" (selectable as checkbox) each page is handled as an image and the whole text is newly recognized with OCR. >> Go to the Online-Tool to convert PDF to Word, Excel or Powerpoint << |
Merge filesUp to 20 files can be merged together into one single PDF file. It doesn't matter whether you use existing PDF files or files which have to be converted first. All files are merged in the same order, in which you have selected the files. The filename of the final PDF file will be taken over from the first selected file automatically. Mix pages of files alternatelyIf you select 2 scanned documents (PDF, XPS, TIFF), you are able to merge them in a nested way. This means that the pages of both documents are taken alternately. This makes sense if you scanned your pages double-sided and one document contains only the front sides and the other one only the backsides.![]() Arrange files:The new and improved user interface and file selection allow you to arrange your added files by simple Drag&Drop. Furthermore, added files can be deleted easily, without having to start fresh from the beginning.Add multiple files at the same time:In modern browsers, it is possible to select several files in the same file dialog window by pressing the Ctrl key. Now you are able to enter the password in the appearing text field. Compress PDF files and reduce the file sizeQuality and resolution of images and graphicsIf you would like to reduce the PDF file size or compress your PDF file, then you can reduce the quality and resolution values at the preferences called "Compression". These settings affect the compression of all images, graphics, and photos. Please note that for photos the quality setting can be reduced much more than for text images (like scanned documents containing text). The best way is to reduce the resolution values first until you see a visual difference. Afterward, hold the previous resolution setting and reduce the quality value step by step. Color or black-and-white?Furthermore, you can choose between color and black-and-white, where the latter reduces the file size additionally. >> Go to the Online-Tool to compress a PDF << |
Set or customize the PDF page layoutMultiple pages on one single PDF page:If you would like to have multiple pages on a PDF page, then you can set this option at the preferences called "Layout". An option for the reading direction "Left to right" or "Right to left" is available as well. ![]() Create Booklet / Flipbook (in order to print and bind a book)If you want to bind your own book, you can create a PDF file where the pages are ordered in such a way, so that you get a booklet when printing and folding the pages. A PDF in A4 size becomes an A5 booklet, a PDF in A3 size becomes an A4 booklet, and so on. You can define page format, orientation, and outer/inner margin on your own. Additionally, you can choose whether the left and the right page should be printed (in the final booklet) or just only the right side. The latter is useful if you need the left page for writing notes. ![]() For printers with Duplex-Printing: If your printer supports Duplex-Printing (both sides are printed at the same time), you have to choose the option "Duplex-Printer" in the converter. Then you get a single PDF document, which you just have to send to your printer. Please make sure that you choose the option for Duplex-Printing in your printer settings as well. Afterward, you can fold the printed pages in the middle and you get a ready booklet. For printers without Duplex-Printing with paper feed on the front: If your printer is not able to print on both sides at the same time and the paper is loaded on the front of your printer, you have to choose "No Duplex-Printer - with paper feed on the front" in the converter. In this case, you get 2 PDF files (in a ZIP archive). One of them contains the front sides, the other one contains the backsides. First, you have to print the file *_Booklet_Part_1.pdf, then put the pages back into the paper feed in the same direction and afterward print the file *_Booklet_Part_2.pdf. After printing you can fold the stack of paper in the middle and get a ready booklet. For printers without Duplex-Printing with paper feed on the back: If your your printer is not able to print on both sides at the same time and the paper is loaded backwards, you have to choose "No Duplex-Printer - with paper feed on the back" in the converter. Each page will be cut into multiple parts. Just choose the appropriate option in the dropdown menu. Afterward, you can define some adjustments to improve the accuracy for the cutting: the outer margin but also the inner spacing between the pages on a sheet in the original file.Select reading direction: You can select whether the pages on the sheet are arranged row by row or column by column. An option for the reading direction "Left to right" or "Right to left" is available as well. ![]() A disassembled, scanned booklet consists of 2 pages per sheet and the pages are arranged in a specific way due to the bookbinding, but the pages are not consecutive. If you choose the option "Cut each page into 2 parts" and for the reading direction "Booklet layout (disassembled)", you can convert a disassembled booklet to a normal document having a correct page order. This is done by splitting each scanned booklet double page into 2 parts and then the pages are rearranged in the correct way. Please note, that you should begin with the correct sheet when scanning the booklet (left part of the sheet = last page, right part = first page). Then you should scan the backside. Afterward, you should scan the front side of the second sheet and so on. |
Set preferences and protectionYou can set many preferences below the file selection before you convert your files:![]() View: Here you can set the zoom level and the page layout, which should be used when opening the PDF file (however, these adjustments can be changed in the PDF reader additionally). Also, you can set whether bookmarks should be retained, hidden, or deleted completely. ![]() Image-to-PDF: In case you are converting image files (like jpg, gif, png, BMP, tif) you can define the page layout, the number of images per page, the minimum page margin, and the size and orientation of the image. ![]() Protection: You can add an authentication protection for the PDF in order to lock some user actions (printing, copying, editing) or you can create a read protection (password for opening). ![]() Excel: Define the decimal separator and the language of dates for the conversion from Excel to PDF and from PDF to Excel.
